Hokanson Carpets

At Hokanson Carpets, founded by Larry Hokanson in 1987, I began my career in the in-house art department—creating hand-rendered, to-scale carpet designs for high-profile clients including Elton John and Bon Jovi, even working on a replica of the Oval Office carpet. Translating these designs onto cotton via silk-screening, I collaborated closely with production teams to ensure precision and consistency from sketch to final product.

Known for luxurious craftsmanship and exotic yarns, Hokanson’s design methods were rooted in traditional techniques rarely used today. Though the processes have evolved, this hands-on role sharpened my technical skills and ignited the long-standing passion driving my design career.
